NAPCO StarLink Fire MAX2: Dual-SIM Communicator Planning

A fire-alarm communicator should be selected for the installed control panel, approved reporting path, available cellular coverage and local authority requirements. NAPCO's StarLink Fire MAX2 family includes dual-SIM models and service options; the exact model and plan determine how the paths are supervised and used.

What dual SIM means

NAPCO describes MAX2 options that support AT&T and Verizon networks. A dual-SIM device does not by itself prove that two paths are simultaneously supervised. Confirm whether the proposed service is sole-path cellular, cellular plus internet or a supported dual-carrier arrangement, and document the supervision and testing rules for that plan.

Check before ordering

• Identify the fire alarm panel, reporting format and available communication interface.
• Verify the exact MAX2 SKU, power needs, enclosure and listing for the application.
• Test available carrier signal at the installed location.
• Confirm the central station, account programming and signal types.
• Review approved plans, permits and AHJ acceptance requirements.

Commission the complete system

Program and test alarm, supervisory and trouble reporting as applicable. Verify path or communication troubles, restoration, power conditions and actual receipt at the central station. A communicator replacement does not by itself correct deficiencies elsewhere in the fire alarm system or replace an inspection.
