The DSC PowerG PG4924 is a wireless curtain-pattern PIR motion detector designed to protect narrow areas along doors, windows, and glass walls. Its selectable detection range helps an installer match the curtain pattern to the protected opening without using a broad room-coverage detector.
Key features
- Narrow curtain-pattern passive infrared detection
- Selectable coverage of approximately 6, 12, or 18 feet
- Suitable for doors, windows, glass walls, and other narrow protection zones
- Visible wireless-link quality indication for placement
- Configuration through a compatible system keypad
- Front tamper and support for optional back-tamper protection
- Low-battery and tamper reporting
- Typical battery life of up to seven years under manufacturer test conditions
- Encrypted, long-range PowerG wireless communication
Model and frequency compatibility
The PG4924 is one regional version in DSC’s PGx924 family. PowerG model numbers correspond to different regional radio frequencies, so a PG4924 should not be assumed compatible with a North American panel merely because another PGx924 model is supported. Confirm the control panel, firmware, radio frequency, and enrollment support before ordering or replacing a device.
Recommended applications
- Storefront and interior glass walls
- Doors and windows requiring narrow motion coverage
- Hallway edges, display areas, and other confined detection zones
- Sites where broad room coverage would create unwanted detection
Placement and testing
Curtain detection depends on correct mounting height, aim, selected range, room geometry, glass temperature, direct sunlight, HVAC movement, and objects crossing the protected zone. The installer should verify the coverage pattern with a complete walk test and confirm alarm and tamper reporting at the panel.
Not sure which regional model you need? Contact Avenger Security before ordering. We can identify the appropriate PowerG model for the installed panel.
