DSC PowerG PG9985 Wireless Flood Detector

The DSC PowerG PG9985 is a wireless flood detector for early warning around equipment and areas where unwanted water can cause property damage. A six-foot wired probe detects water at floor level while the transmitter communicates the alarm, restoration, tamper, and low-battery conditions to a compatible PowerG system.

Panel compatibility

The PG9985 is the North American model in DSC’s PGx985 family. Confirm the control-panel model, firmware, PowerG frequency, available zone programming, and reporting capabilities before ordering.

Placement and testing

Position the probe at the lowest practical point where leaking water is likely to collect, while keeping the transmitter within its environmental limits. Secure the probe cable so it cannot be damaged or pulled loose. After enrollment, test water detection, probe supervision, restoration, low-battery reporting, and any customer notifications.

Important limitation

The PG9985 provides detection and alarm reporting. It does not automatically stop a leak or close a water valve unless a separate compatible shutoff system has been specifically designed, installed, and programmed.
